New York Claim Association Honors NYSIF CEO David Wehner

The New York State Insurance Fund today announced that NYSIF Executive Director/CEO David P. Wehner was honored Saturday evening by the New York Claim Association at their annual dinner.

Chosen unanimously by the NYCA Executive Officers and Board of Directors, Mr. Wehner was presented with NYCA’s Award of Excellence, in recognition of excellence in service to the insurance industry. More than 225 attended the celebration at the Harvard Club in Manhattan.

“I am honored to be chosen for this prestigious award,” said CEO Wehner.  “The New York Claim Association and NYSIF have enjoyed a long and rewarding partnership, and I am proud to have contributed to that success. I am committed to a better workers' compensation system in New York.”

Established in 1914, NYCA is an organization dedicated to the advancement of education and ethics in the field of New York claims management, with a concentration in the areas of workers' compensation and no fault insurance. Membership consists of insurance carriers, self-insureds, third-party administrators, risk managers and health care providers. 

The mission of the NYCA is to promote high standards of ethics and professional conduct among its members and others engaged in insurance claim and related businesses; to provide educational programs to keep members informed; to support a high level of professional standards in the delivery of services provided by its members; to foster and advance the interests of its members in such fashion that their united efforts will result in tangible improvements insuring to their common good, betterment and welfare. 

NYCA President Ed Hiller said: “Dave Wehner is a prime example of the principles of the New York Claim Association.  He has shown tremendous leadership and initiative in his year as NYSIF Executive Director/CEO, and in his former position as Chairman of the Workers’ Compensation Board.  We thank him for his service.”

NYSIF is a non-profit agency of the State of New York that was created as part of the Workers' Compensation Law of 1914. By law, NYSIF is a competitive insurance carrier that sells workers' compensation and disability benefits insurance to any employer doing business in New York State. Approximately 196,000 employers hold NYSIF workers' compensation insurance policies, constituting about 38 percent of the market.
