An Ossining man allegedly working as a taxi driver has been charged with workers’ compensation fraud against the New York State Insurance Fund.

New York State Police in Hawthorne, NY, arrested Jose Henao on October 1, for felony insurance fraud and violating the Workers’ Compensation Law.

Mr. Henao, 48, received workers’ compensation benefits stemming from an injury he reported while working for Perryco Homes, Inc. Investigators said he returned signed statements to NYSIF and testified at a Workers’ Compensation Board hearing that he had not worked since the injury.

Authorities said the investigation revealed that Mr. Henao allegedly collected $6,580 in fraudulent benefits while working as a taxi driver.
