CEO/Executive Director David P. Wehner announced the debut of a totally redesigned nysif.com homepage, making NYSIF’s web site more user friendly and easier to navigate to meet the increasing demand for NYSIF Online services.
NYSIF’s web site contains a full line up of information and services regarding workers’ compensation and disability benefits insurance for New York businesses, including sections devoted specifically to serving policyholders, claimants, brokers and medical providers for whom NYISF offers an expanding array of electronic services.
“Our web site’s new homepage has a look and feel that is cleaner, more concise and customer-driven,” CEO Wehner said in announcing the enhancements. “We've improved nysif.com to better meet NYSIF business needs, as well as user needs.”
Two recently-added services include a new line of safety-resources for Spanish-speaking workers, and a system allowing medical providers to submit bills electronically to NYSIF.
Also newly improved is one of the most comprehensive online glossaries in the industry, updated to reflect last year’s workers’ compensation reforms, containing more than 250 entries that explain workers’ compensation and disability benefits legal terms, processes and procedures. Any business or individual can take advantage of this valuable feature or any of the site’s other educational tools, including an extensive library of free workplace safety materials that can be downloaded from the site.
Usage numbers show that demand for NYSIF web services has jumped by more than 16% since the site’s initial redesign in June 2006. NYSIF’s e-commerce staff tracked usage of the site’s internal pages and designed access from the new homepage based on the most-frequently visited pages.
The new site offers convenient navigation by customer base direct from the homepage:
• “Claimant Central” allows injured workers to learn about filing a claim, contact their case manager, as well as check the status of a benefit payment.
• Policyholders can click “Employer Resources” to create or validate a certificate of insurance, pay a bill, or report an injury.
• Medical providers can print a detailed, itemized list of billed medical payments made to them by NYSIF by using NYSIF’s Explanation of Benefits tool, inquire about a medical bill, or access a medical fee schedule.
• Any employer can get a quote for insurance, download standard Workers’ Comp. Board forms, download safety resources in English and Spanish, or validate NYSIF certificates. The site, developed entirely by NYSIF staff, retains a wealth of information and services for New York employers and injured workers. Still available from the homepage are four topical sections: Workers’ Compensation, Disability Benefits, Safety and Risk Management, and Online Services.
NYSIF is a non-profit agency of the state of New York that was created as part of the Workers' Compensation Law of 1914. By law, NYSIF is a competitive insurance carrier that sells workers' compensation and disability benefits insurance to any employer doing business in New York State. Approximately 195,000 employers hold NYSIF workers' compensation insurance policies, constituting nearly 37 percent of the market.
