NYSIF Expanding Safety Poster Library Adds Safety Messages in Spanish

February 6, 2008

The New York State Insurance Fund announced an expansion of its online safety services, providing safety posters in Spanish for the first time. NYSIF safety posters are a valuable resource for businesses to help raise the level of employee awareness in maintaining a safe work environment and show how to avoid and prevent on-the-job accidents.

NYSIF CEO/Executive Director David P. Wehner said NYSIF is responding to the ever-increasing percentage of Spanish speaking people in the New York workforce.

“Our workforce is culturally diverse with many workers retaining their native culture and language,” he said. "At NYSIF, we believe we have a responsibility to assist our policyholders in accident prevention and providing a safe workplace for those who speak limited or no English.”

Safety education and accident prevention are essential elements of NYSIF’s mission.

Safety posters are easily printed from the nysif.com web site. They can be downloaded and posted in the work place. There is no charge for the posters and they are available to all New York businesses. In addition, NYSIF offers policyholders the option of requesting a safety poster created to meet a specific business need.

NYSIF is a non-profit agency of the State of New York created as part of the Workers’ Compensation Law of 1914. By law, NYSIF is a competitive insurance carrier that sells workers’ compensation and disability benefits insurance to any business doing business in New York State. Approximately 195,000 employers hold NYSIF workers’ compensation policies constituting about 37 percent of the market.
