New York State Insurance Fund (NYSIF) Executive Director David P. Wehner today announced the Fund’s two most widely-read publications, Partners in Safety and A Claims Guide for the Employer, are now available in Spanish.
“These publications will enhance NYSIF’s outreach,” said Mr. Wehner. “Making these publications available in both English and Spanish increases their value for New York businesses, reaching a wider audience that reflects the changing composition of New York’s workforce.”
The publications contain both English and Spanish text in the same brochure. Partners in Safety, or Socios en la Seguridad, includes tips on safety training, accident prevention, materials handling, personal protective equipment and a comprehensive Safety Inspection Checklist. It has helped thousands of New York employers and employees establish and maintain safe workplaces.
A Claims Guide for the Employer (Guía de Solicitudes de Indemnización para el Empleador), contains critical information for businesses, including accident reporting, tips for recognizing fraud, forms descriptions, employment of minors and information on disability benefits.
NYSIF includes the two publications in all policyholder packets and also distributes them through its field services personnel. The guides also are available through the New York State Library State Documents Section, and by request from NYSIF.
NYSIF is planning to roll out two more dual-language publications this summer, A Quick Guide to Claims and Making Payments Electronically.
“This is just another step in keeping with our mission to be the best customer service provider in the industry,” Mr. Wehner said.
NYSIF is a non-profit agency of the State of New York that was created as part of the Workers' Compensation Law of 1914. By law, NYSIF is a competitive insurance carrier that sells workers' compensation and disability benefits insurance to any employer doing business in New York State. Approximately 195,000 employers hold NYSIF workers' compensation insurance policies, constituting about 37 percent of the market.
