Print A Claims Guide for the Employer - Spanish Workers' compensation insurance protects employers from liability for on-the-job injuries resulting in employee disability or death, providing injured workers with monetary relief and medical benefits, or, in the case of death, survivor benefits to their dependents. In workers' compensation claims, charges for causally-related medical treatment are paid by the insurance carrier. In disability benefits claims, the law does not provide for payments for medical care. NYSIF uses Global Case Management (GCM) to manage claims. GCM integrates a team of NYSIF claims professionals under a single case manager to coordinate care for the injured worker from the time the injury is first reported until the claim is resolved. GCM ensures appropriate, quality medical treatment and the timely payments of benefits. NYSIF includes the claimant, employer and medical provider throughout the claims process to provide the best outcome for the injured worker.
