To comply with Code Rule 59, cited businesses must undergo the consultation process and put in place all recommendations made by the consultant. Usually, this involves developing written safety programs and correcting physical hazards noted by the consultant in the safety survey of your workplace.
NYSIF is required by Code Rule 59 statue to perform a review to see if you have complied with the certified safety consultant’s recommendations. This review must take place within 60 days of the end of the period you have to comply with the consultant’s recommendation. NYSIF is required to notify the Department of Labor of your compliance or non-compliance. You will also be notified.

By coming into Code Rule 59 compliance, you are on your way toward reducing workplace injuries and lowering your workers’ compensation costs. The only remaining requirement of Code Rule 59 is that you maintain your safety program. Companies with successful safety programs have found that the key to success is regular review, re-evaluation and updating of their programs to address changing conditions, operations and needs of the company.
