NYSIF has made it easier for customers to bind coverage – 24 hours a day.
As part of our efforts to streamline applying for and receiving workers’ comp insurance coverage, we have automated the issuance of policy numbers for businesses that complete the quote and application processes online.
Our new auto policy numbering feature provides instantaneous policy numbering for previously quoted online workers’ comp applications – even those completed and received after hours and on weekends.

Auto policy numbering is available to most customers if they:
• Digitally submit workers’ comp applications
• Electronically sign the application and include payment
• Have no past due balance
However, customers who are seeking coverage that would take effect on a distant date, or out-of-state businesses that are seeking temporary coverage in New York, may not be able to use this feature. Customers who are not candidates for automatic policy numbering will still receive email notification immediately after NYSIF underwriters complete their review of an application and it has been approved.
Secure Coverage Faster: STP
For certain, low-risk businesses, NYSIF now has Straight-Through Processing (STP), which automates and streamlines the application and binding process, enabling some new workers’ comp customers to apply online and obtain coverage within minutes. NYSIF plans to expand STP to a larger pool of eligible new business in the future to maximize customer convenience and continue to make it easier than ever for you to do business with us.
