Information for DB/PFL Policyholders

For guidance on coronavirus-related issues, NYSIF’s COVID-19 page provides essential information on disability benefits and paid family leave for you and your workers. The page offers an overview of benefits available to your employees who may be affected by COVID-19, and useful links to the US Department of Labor regarding employer paid leave requirements and employee rights under the Families First Coronavirus Response Act.

Claim Forms

We also provide information to help you and your employees determine the correct form they should file if they contracted COVID-19 away from work (SCOVID, which may entitle them to both disability benefits and paid family leave), are caring for a family member who has been diagnosed with COVID-19 (PFL-CARE), or if they are caring for a minor child who has been quarantined or has contracted the virus (CCOVID).

Quarantine or Isolation Orders

The law provides guaranteed job protection and paid leave for New York employees who are unable to work while subject to a COVID-19 precautionary or mandatory order of quarantine or isolation, which is required for determining benefits. You can review and refer employees to guidelines issued by New York State for obtaining an order of quarantine.
