Remembering Steven M. Licht

NYSIF mourned the loss of Steven M. Licht, a former Director of Claims, who passed away on August 26, 2019, at the age of 77. After leaving NYSIF, Mr. Licht served for 20 years as CEO and General Counsel for the Special Funds Conservation Committee until its dissolution in 2018.

Mr. Licht was a distinguished leader in the workers’ comp industry who received many awards and accolades for his years of service, expertise, mentorship and guidance. NYSIF Chairman Kenneth R. “The State Fund Family is diminished with Mr. Licht’s passing,” Mr. Theobalds said. “Our hearts go out to his family and ours.”

Born in New York and raised on the Lower East Side, Mr. Licht was a graduate of New York University and Brooklyn Law School. He is survived by his wife, Diana Bain, and children.
