
Aharon Kestenbaum is the Director of Energy and Sustainability at Montefiore Health System, the University Hospital for Albert Einstein College of Medicine, where he built the department from the ground up in 2023. He oversees energy and sustainability strategy across nine hospital campuses and more than 300 outpatient locations, with a focus on decarbonization, regulatory compliance, and clinical sustainability integration. Under his leadership, Montefiore Einstein has secured $2.1 million in NYSIF Climate Action credits, achieved a 31% reduction in GHG emissions intensity from a 2007 baseline, and earned the Practice Greenhealth System for Change.
Aharon is also a Lecturer at Columbia University's Sustainability Management Program and has served on the CDP Buildings Expert Advisory Group.
