NYSIF Revamps Online Certificate System

The New York State Insurance Fund is pleased to announce several updates to our workers’ comp electronic certificate system (eCERTS), designed to make it easier to manage NYSIF certificates of insurance for certificate holders, policyholders, brokers and safety group managers.

We have incorporated suggestions from our users to streamline functions, offer new options and provide clearer messaging to improve the system’s browse, create, renew, validate and subscribe features. A partial list of changes includes:

Browse:

  • Expanded search fields include name, address, city, state, zip code, email and Job ID.
  • Added options display results by newest certificate or alphabetically by certificate holder.
  • A new filter is added to search by certificates with a wrecking provision
  • The “hide” option is replaced with “Delete from renew list.”

Create:

  • Representatives no longer have to enter the policyholder’s email address.
  • If you have previously created a certificate for a certain certificate holder, the system will auto-fill the information required.
  • New auto renewal options include: do not renew*, renew for one year, or renew for two years. *Ideal for short projects; the certificate will not appear in the renewal list when choosing this option.

Renew:

  • Added options display results by newest certificate or alphabetically by certificate holder.
  • A checkbox is added to select all certificates on screen for renewal (up to 15 at once).

Validate/Subscribe:

  • Upon validation, the certificate holder sees a prominent message, “Alert me if this policy cancels,” from which to subscribe to receive alerts from NYSIF.
  • A streamlined subscription with confirmation email – including the policyholder name, certificate number, policy number, certificate end date and option to unsubscribe – replaces an old multi-step authentication process.

In addition, the overall appearance of the eCERT system has been updated with a cleaner look as part of a larger project to provide consistency across all NYSIF online system screens. Thank you for helping us improve NYSIF’s eCertificate system. We value your input and continue to welcome your feedback.
