NYSIF Continues Operations Remotely

Dear Policyholders:

As the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) continues to have an increasing impact throughout our communities, we wanted to reach out to you, our valued policyholders, to share information about NYSIF’s preparedness efforts.

In order to reduce the risk of spreading COVID-19, the Governor has directed all nonessential New York State employees not to report to work for two weeks starting today, March 17. This expands the earlier statewide directive that focused exclusively on employees working downstate. NYSIF’s Business Continuity Plan, which was carefully developed to allow us to provide uninterrupted service, enables our employees throughout the State to work remotely during the office shutdown. While we expect business to continue as usual, we ask for your patience if you experience any delays or have any issues in contacting staff as we adjust operations.

NYSIF anticipates that there will be many questions about coverage and liability as information about the novel coronavirus develops. NYSIF’s approach, at this time, is to evaluate each claim on a “case by case” basis.

Amid all the uncertainty surrounding the coronavirus, NYSIF remains committed to meeting the needs of you and your employees. We will do our best to continue to provide excellent customer service to all of our customers as we adjust our operations to help contain the spread of the coronavirus.
